GREG, seventeen, is fighting KID 1 in the corridor. They are wearing their school uniform and their rucksacks are on the floor. There is a crowd of kids standing around them, chanting. The fight is being filmed on KID 2'S mobile phone. GREG is pushed into the lockers by KID 1. GREG pushes KID 1 onto the floor. GREG grabs hold of KID 1, repeatedly punching him in the face...

Cut to
INT. - OUTSIDE MR WHITE'S OFFICE - MORNING

GREG is sitting on a chair, awaiting to be called into MR WHITE'S office. His rucksack is on the floor, underneath the chair. The office door opens and KID 1 emerges from out of the office. His face is cut and bruised from where GREG hit him. KID 1 avoids eye contact with GREG and walks away. MR WHITE, late forties, stands in the doorway of the room.

MR WHITE
Greg.

GREG picks up his rucksack from off the floor as he gets to his feet. He walks inside the office and MR WHITE closes the door.

Cut to
INT. - MR WHITE'S OFFICE - MORNING

MR WHITE sits at the desk. He signals for GREG to take a seat. GREG places his rucksack on the floor and sits before MR WHITE. Silence. MR WHITE clears his throat. GREG remains silent the whole time.

MR WHITE
It seems pretty clear to me what the fight was about. My question to you is what will your mother say if I called her? You've been with us two months. You should be making friends, not looking for an excuse to pick a fight. (pauses) I'll tell you what. There's a new scheme starting at the school, which encourages you to help out within the community. You do this and I'll be sure not to call your mother.

Cut to
INT. - OUTSIDE MR WHITE'S OFFICE - MORNING

The office door opens and GREG walks out of the office with his rucksack on his back. He closes the door.

GREG (muttering)

GREG and ZEKE, seventeen, are sitting at a table on the front right-hand side of the room. GREG is drawing in his exercise book and ZEKE is listening to MISS MOORE. Their pencil cases are also on the table and their rucksacks are underneath the table.

MISS MOORE
I have compiled a worksheet that needs to be completed for the end of the week. On your way out, don't forget to pick one up from my desk.

The school bell goes, signalling the end of the lesson.

MISS MOORE (continued)
Class dismissed.

All the students pack their pencil cases and exercise books into their rucksacks. They get to their feet and walk towards the classroom door. They pick up a worksheet from Miss Moore's desk as they pass it.

Cut to
INT. - OUTSIDE MISS MOORE'S CLASSROOM - MORNING

GREG and ZEKE walk out of the room with their rucksacks on their backs and a copy of their worksheets in their hands. They put the worksheets away as they walk down the corridor.

GREG
More homework. You'd think she's trying to kill us with the amount of work she sets.

ZEKE
I don't know why you're complaining. I'll end up doing it.

GREG
Oh, cheers. You're so kind.

A classroom door opens and KERRY, seventeen, storms out of it with her handbag in her hands. She is followed closely by TEACHER 1, whom she is arguing with. GREG and ZEKE stop and watch the confrontation.

TEACHER 1
Storming off is not going to help, Kerry.

KERRY
(sighs) Oh, fuck off, you prick.

TEACHER 1 sighs and walks back inside the classroom, closing the door. KERRY storms down the corridor. She sees that a group of kids are staring at her.

KERRY (furiously)
What the fuck are you staring at? Cunts!

GREG and ZEKE watch as KERRY turns into another corridor.

ZEKE
I'm glad I'm not in any of her lessons.

GREG
Tell me about it.

GREG and ZEKE continue to walk down the corridor, talking to each other.

The dormitory door opens and GREG walks inside the room with his rucksack on his back. GREG closes the dormitory door and places his rucksack on the floor. He takes his shirt and tie off, placing them on the bottom bunk. He opens the wardrobe and selects a set of casual clothes. He gets changed into them. GREG sits on the edge of the bed. He reaches underneath the pillow and brings out his diary and a pen. He turns to the current date and begins to write his reflections on the day so far.

GREG (voiceover)
Mood. Unhappy. Was in another fight this morning. Third time this month. Got sent to the principal's office...again. He keeps bring up mum, which is really frustrating. I have community service soon. Fingers crossed, I might actually do something right here.

Cut to

MR MILLER
Right. I believe that's everyone here. Before we begin, I want you to introduce yourself. (points to DEMI) You first.

DEMI
Hi. I'm Demi.

GREG
(puts his hand up to them) Greg.

MAX
Max.

KERRY
Kerry. That's my name. Don't wear it out.

GREG catches DEMI watching him as the introductions are taking place. DEMI casually looks away.

MR MILLER
Okay, then. I'm Mr Miller. Teacher of chemistry.

KERRY
Are we done yet?

MR MILLER
Thank you, Kerry, but no. We are not done. The idea of this scheme is to try and help out the community. As there's only the four of you, that leaves you the choice to choose between litter picking or helping out at the local retirement home.

KERRY
I ain't looking after old people.

MR MILLER
Well it looks like you'll be litter picking.

DEMI
I don't mind going to the retirement home.

MR MILLER
(faces GREG) Greg?

GREG looks to KERRY, then at DEMI as he makes his mind up. He smiles as he faces MR MILLER.

GREG
Retirement.

Cut to
EXT. - STREET - AFTERNOON

MAX and KERRY are walking down the street. MAX is picking up all the litter from off the floor and is putting it inside a binbag, which KERRY is holding. KERRY is talking loudly.

KERRY
I was like, Oh my, God. You did not just say that to me. She was like, I did. What are you gonna do about it? So I thumped her one. The fat cow got what she deserved. (faces MAX) You're not talking much, are ya?

MAX is silent.

Cut to

The door opens and GREG walks inside the room. He holds the door open for DEMI, who walks inside the building.

GREG
Where do we go?

DEMI
We find someone I guess.

Cut to
EXT. - STREET - AFTERNOON

MAX and KERRY are still walking down the street, litter picking. KERRY is talking loudly to MAX, who is visibly bored of listening to her.

KERRY
Do you have a girlfriend?

MAX
No.

KERRY
Have you ever kissed a girl?

MAX
Yes.

KERRY
Have you ever had sex?

MAX stops and faces KERRY.

MAX
Have you ever tried shutting up? It might be good for you.

KERRY is shocked into silence. MAX continues to walk down the street. MAX turns back to face KERRY.

MAX (continued)
You hear that? Silence.

CARER
Arthur?

ARTHUR
Fuck off.

CARER
Arthur, I'd like you to meet Greg. He's here to keep you company.

ARTHUR turns to face GREG, who puts his hand up to him. CARER faces GREG.

CARER (continued)
I'll leave you to it.

CARER turns and walks out of the room. She closes the door. There is an awkward silence between GREG and ARTHUR.

ARTHUR
Have you come to take me home?

GREG
I can't. Sorry.

ARTHUR turns back around in the chair and looks out of the window.

ARTHUR
I wish someone would take me home.

GREG
You're not the only one.

Cut to
EXT. - STREET - AFTERNOON

MAX and KERRY are sitting on a bench. MAX has his hands on KERRY'S breasts and is feeling them. The binbag is on the floor.

KERRY
Do you like that?

MAX
(nods) Yeah.

KERRY (whispering)
Got any condoms?

MAX
They're not something I usually keep on me.

KERRY
That's alright. I don't like 'em either.

KERRY takes hold of MAX'S hands. They get to their feet and hurry down the street, leaving behind the binbag.

Cut to
EXT. - OUTSIDE THE RETIREMENT HOME - AFTERNOON

DEMI is standing with her back against the wall, patiently waiting for GREG. GREG walks out of the building and sighs.

DEMI
(faces GREG) Tough time?

GREG
It was a nightmare.

GREG and DEMI walk down the street as they talk together.

GREG (continued)
At first, he wanted me to take him home, then I had to listen to his life story.

DEMI
I looked after this sweet little old lady. Victoria. (pauses) So what did you do? To end up here?

GREG
Fighting. It wasn't even my fault. You?

DEMI
I signed up for it.

GREG
Seriously? What a waste of time.

DEMI
What would you normally be doing that's so important?

GREG is silent.

DEMI (continued)
I like giving things back. Not everyone's had an easy life like us.

GREG
Not everyone, but certainly some of us.

DEMI
Are you free tomorrow?

GREG
Might be. Why?

DEMI
Come along to catering. Miss is looking for more people to come along.

GREG
No chance. I can't cook.

DEMI
That's why you go, idiot. If you're interested, lesson starts at nine.

Cut to

GREG
(faces ZEKE) How's it going?

ZEKE
Maths is done. History's almost done. Haven't had chance to start drama yet.

GREG lays on the bottom bunk of the bunkbed. He picks up a tennis ball from off the floor and bounces it against the wall.

ZEKE (continued)
How was community payback?

GREG
Shit. I did meet this pretty hot girl.

ZEKE
(faces GREG) Oh, yeah?

GREG
Her name's Demi.

ZEKE
Demi. Demi Levitt?

GREG shrugs. ZEKE closes the laptop lid.

GREG
I think she likes me. Why else would she invite me to catering?

ZEKE
Get in there.

GREG
(faces ZEKE) Do you mind coming, too? Just in case.

ZEKE
All right. As long as you do something for me. (pauses) Oh, that reminds me.

ZEKE opens the laptop lid and loads up Youtube on the laptop.

ZEKE (continued)
That video of your fight this morning has about a thousand hits on youtube.

GREG gets off the bed and stands beside ZEKE, who shows the video to him.

GREG
How long has it been online for?

ZEKE
Three hours.

GREG
How many other videos are there?

ZEKE
Quite a few.

ZEKE clicks onto another video. It has GIRL 1 and GIRL 2 fighting violently in a school corridor. Intense shouting and screaming can be heard from the video.

GREG
It's crazy.

GREG and ZEKE gasp at the sight of a glass bottle being smashed on GIRL 2'S head. GIRL 2 drops to the floor and the video stops playing.

ZEKE
(faces GREG) You, my friend, are part of the reason why teenagers today are hated so much.

Cut to

GREG is laying on the bottom bunk, writing in his diary. ZEKE is sitting at the desk, typing onto the laptop. The main light is off, but a lamp is on.

The class is silent. MRS BRISTOW points to GREG.

MRS BRISTOW (continued)
You, boy. Come up.

GREG reluctantly steps forward. He sticks his finger in the bowl and licks the cake mixture off his finger. GREG puts his finger back in the bowl. He holds his finger out to DEMI.

GREG
Try some?

DEMI smiles as she steps forward. As she licks the cake mixture from GREG'S finger, he makes several groaning sounds. ZEKE shakes his head disapprovingly. MR WHITE stands in the doorway of the room and sees DEMI liking GREG'S finger.

MR WHITE
Each month, we perform a check on the websites students visit. (shows the list to GREG) This is yours. It appears you've been accessing a large number of adult websites.

GREG
Adult websites?

MR WHITE
Pornography. I have to say I never knew half these sites existed. Frankly, I'm a little concerned.

Cut to
INT. - GREG AND ZEKE'S DORMITORY - NIGHT - FLASHBACK

GREG
What?! I'm not gay!

MR WHITE
It's okay, Greg. It's perfectly natural to be indenial.

GREG
Sir. I'm not gay. I don't know where you're getting this from.

MR WHITE hands the list to GREG, who looks through the websites visited. He faces MR WHITE.

Cut to
EXT. - STREET - AFTERNOON

GREG and DEMI are walking slowly down the street, talking to each other. They are holding hands.

DEMI
What'd you think of it today?

GREG
It was interesting. I'm actually starting to like this guy. He's been there. It's almost like you can trust him.

DEMI
Do you trust me?

GREG
I do. I think you're authentic.

DEMI
Authentic.

GREG
We're holding hands. That's a good sign.

DEMI
I still don't get what you mean by authentic.

GREG
You're not fake. Not like some other people. (fakes a cough) Kerry. (fakes another cough)

Cut to
EXT. - WOODS - AFTERNOON

MAX is sitting on a log. KERRY is standing before MAX, filming him with her mobile phone. She is also smoking a spliff.

KERRY
Do you like me?

MAX
Yeah.

KERRY
Why don't you show me how much you like me?

KERRY films MAX as he gets to his feet. The camera is blacked out as MAX stands before KERRY. He kisses KERRY on the lips. She can be heard giggling.

MAX
You like it?

Yeah. I like it a lot.

MAX
I want to fuck you so bad.

They can be heard kissing and undressing each other.

Cut to
INT. - GREG AND ZEKE'S DORMITORY - EVENING

GREG is sitting at the desk with the laptop out in front of him. The webcam and microphone have been set up on the laptop. GREG presses the record button and begins talking into the webcam.

GREG
Hey, everyone. It's been a while since I made one of these videos. I've been kinda busy. Yesterday, I was told by the school that I should attend, uh daily community service sessions. I've been helping out at this retirement home with this girl. Her name's Demi and she's nice. Anyway, I've been looking after this man, Arthur. He's been at the home six years, ever since his wife passed away. Today, he, uh told me about his wife. How he met her, how long they'd been together and I felt bad for him. He lost someone close to him.

The dormitory door handle can be seen turning as ZEKE attempts to get inside the room. He bangs on the door.

ZEKE (calling)
Open up, Greg!

GREG
That's all for today. I'll hopefully be back in a few days.

GREG switches the webcam off and lowers the laptop lid. He gets to his feet and unlocks the dormitory door. It opens and ZEKE walks inside the room. He closes the door.

ZEKE
Why do you always lock the door?

GREG sits back down. He lifts the laptop lid up and sees how long his video diary is. ZEKE sits on the bottom bunk and watches GREG as he edits the video.

ZEKE (continued)
What did you make?

GREG
A video for my blog. I make them sometimes.

ZEKE
Do people even go on your blog?

GREG
(faces ZEKE) Why do you watch gay porn on people's computers?

ZEKE laughs awkwardly.

GREG (continued)
The principal asked me if I was gay. I haven't even been on any of the sites.

ZEKE
Look. It was just the once.

GREG
There were about ten different sites! (gets to his feet) Get your own fucking laptop in future.

GREG opens the dormitory door and storms out of the room. He slams the door shut.

ZEKE (muttering)
One night. That's all it was.

Cut to
INT. - BOYS TOILETS - EVENING

GREG is sitting on a toilet seat inside a cubicle, talking to SUMMER, seventeen, on the phone. The cubicle door is locked.

SUMMER
Have you spoken to your mum since you left?

GREG
I've tried calling her a few times, but she never answers. I get the impression people don't like me here.

SUMMER
What gives you that idea?

GREG
I dunno. Just the way people act around me. I feel like I don't fit in here. I want to go home.

SUMMER
You gotta give it more time, Greg. You're still settling in. You've got tons of time to meet new people.

GREG
Most of the people who talk to me, end up wanting to fight me.

SUMMER
(sighs) You haven't been fighting again.

GREG
I tried not to. (pauses) How are things where you are?

SUMMER
Things are good. Drama's not been the same without you.

GREG
I made another video. You should check it out at some point.

SUMMER
Greg.

GREG
What's up?

SUMMER
I have a boyfriend now.

GREG is visibly disappointed by SUMMER'S revelation.

SUMMER (continued)
Greg, are you there?

GREG
Yeah, I'm here. It's good that you've got one.

SUMMER
Really?

GREG
Yeah. I'm happy for you.

SUMMER
I wanted you to be the first to know. (pauses) I've got to go now. It was good talking to you again.

The call cuts out. GREG holds the phone in his hand and sighs.

Cut to
INT. - GREG AND ZEKE'S DORMITORY - EVENING

GREG is laying on the bed, writing in the current date of his diary. The main light is off and the lamp is on.

GREG (voiceover)
Today, I spoke with Summer and found out she's seeing someone else now, which kinda sucks. On the plus side, I'm getting a lot closer to Demi now. She's a good friend, which is more than I can say to others.

Cut to
INT. - GREG AND ZEKE'S DORMITORY - NIGHT

GREG is laying on the bottom bunk and ZEKE is laying on the top bunk. The main light is off and they are in complete silence.

ZEKE
Greg. You still awake?

GREG
Yeah.

ZEKE
I checked out your blog. It had some pretty cool stuff on it.

GREG
Cheers, Zeke.

ZEKE
I'm sorry for taking your laptop.

GREG
It was a dick move.

ZEKE
I come from a pretty large family so we're always sharing each other's things.

GREG
I don't mind you using it. Just delete the history.

ZEKE
(laughs) Yeah.

Cut to
INT. - SCHOOL CORRIDOR - MORNING

The school bell goes, signalling the start of the first lesson. ZEKE is sitting on the floor, desperately trying to complete GREG'S drama essay in time for the deadline. His rucksack is next to him on the floor. GREG is standing before ZEKE with his rucksack on his back.

GREG (nervously)
Just leave it, Zeke. I gotta go.

ZEKE
Hold on. I'm almost done.

GREG
Hurry up.

ZEKE finishes writing GREG'S drama essay.

GREG (continued)
You done?

ZEKE picks up his rucksack as he gets to his feet. He hands the finished essay to GREG, who puts it away.

ZEKE
Good luck with that.

GREG
(pats ZEKE on the shoulder) Thanks, Zeke.

GREG darts down the corridor, hoping to make it to his drama lesson in time. ZEKE watches GREG as he turns around and darts down the other side of the corridor.

GREG (continued)
Drama's this way.

ZEKE laughs as he watches GREG run down the corridor.

Cut to
INT. - MRS BRISTOW'S CLASSROOM - MORNING

GREG is standing at his workstation with an apron over the top of his shirt. ZEKE is standing at the workstation behind GREG. He is mixing some flour and margarine together to make breadcrumbs, in a glass bowl. MRS BRISTOW is talking to DEMI at her workstation. GREG looks at the clock on the wall. He turns around and casually walks to ZEKE.

GREG (whispering)
Do you mind keeping Miss busy? I gotta collect something from reception.

ZEKE
Sure.

GREG
(taps ZEKE on the shoulder) Cheers, Zeke.

GREG casually walks out of the room. ZEKE looks across to MRS BRISTOW, who finishes talking to DEMI.

ZEKE (loudly)
Oh, Miss!

MRS BRISTOW looks across to ZEKE, who waves at her. GLORIA walks towards him.

MRS BRISTOW
What can I do for you, Master Jackson?

ZEKE
(shows the bowl to MRS BRISTOW) How's it looking?

MRS BRISTOW
Let me take a look.

MRS BRISTOW walks to a sink and washes her hands. She walks back to ZEKE and looks inside the bowl.

MRS BRISTOW (continued)
Very good. Do you know where to go from now?

ZEKE
I think so.

GREG walks inside the room with a pizza box in his hands. He walks to his workstation and takes the pizza out of the box. He switches the oven on and puts the pizza on a baking tray. He puts the baking tray inside the oven. He puts the pizza box in the bin, then turns back to ZEKE, sticking his thumb up at him. MRS BRISTOW is now visibly bored of talking to ZEKE.

MRS BRISTOW
(sighs) Anything else?

ZEKE
Nope. That's it. Thanks, Miss. You're a star.

MRS BRISTOW walks to GREG as he washes his hands.

MRS BRISTOW
How's your pizza coming along?

GREG
It's almost ready, I think.

MRS BRISTOW
Let's take a look.

GREG picks up a pair of oven gloves and opens the oven. MRS BRISTOW takes a look at the pizza. GREG closes the door.

MRS BRISTOW (continued)
I have to say I'm impressed. For a beginner, you've done a good job of it.

MRS BRISTOW walks past the bin, glancing inside it. She sees the pizza box in the bin. MRS BRISTOW takes it out of the bin and turns to face GREG.

MRS BRISTOW (continued)
Greg?

GREG turns to MRS BRISTOW and sees the pizza box in her hands. He blushes.

Cut to
INT. - DEMI AND KERRY'S DORMITORY - AFTERNOON

GREG and DEMI are laying on the bottom bunk. GREG has his arm around DEMI'S shoulders.

DEMI
I'm touched that you took a subject for me.

GREG looks DEMI in the eyes.

DEMI (continued)
I never see you talk to any girls. You're alone pretty much the whole time.

GREG
What's the point hanging out with people? They're fake. First chance they get, they'll stab you in the back.

DEMI
Maybe you just need to find the right friends. (pauses) Have you ever had sex?

GREG sits up. DEMI also sits up as GREG gets to his feet.

GREG
I think I should go.

GREG walks towards the dormitory door.

DEMI
Don't go. I'm sorry If I upset you.

GREG stands at the dormitory door. He turns back to face DEMI, who gets to her feet. DEMI goes to kiss GREG, but he moves away.

DEMI (continued)
What're you afraid of?

GREG
Everything.

GREG opens the dormitory door and turns back to face DEMI.

GREG (continued)
I like you.

KERRY walks inside the room.

KERRY
Absolutely fucking ridiculous. (sits on the bottom bunk) I hate living in this shithole.

DEMI
(faces KERRY) What happened?

KERRY
That crappy community payback. I gotta do it for another week. As if I don't have enough to do.

GREG
I'll see you later.

GREG turns and walks out of the room.

DEMI
(sighs) Greg, wait.

DEMI walks after GREG, leaving KERRY sitting on her own.

KERRY (sarcastically)
So I'll just talk to myself. That's okay.

Not being able to find GREG, DEMI walks back inside the room.

Cut to
INT. - GREG AND ZEKE'S DORMITORY - NIGHT

GREG is laying on the bottom bunk with his eyes open. The top bunk is shaking and ZEKE can be heard masturbating. ZEKE is unaware that GREG is still awake. ZEKE moans loudly as he comes. A porn magazine is thrown onto the floor. GREG stares at the cover of it. A used tissue drops on top of the magazine.

Cut to
INT. - CHLOE'S DINING ROOM - EVENING - FLASHBACK

GREG and CHLOE, early forties, are standing in the middle of the room, arguing intensly. CHLOE screams as she picks up a plate from off the table and throws it at the wall. It smashes and GREG suddenly falls silent.

CHLOE (furiously)
You have no respect for me! After all I've done for you and you still treat me like a piece of dirt. I've had enough of it!

GREG
You left me! The time I needed you most in my life and you didn't want to know! You were too busy getting pissed. Every night, you were bringing a different man into the house. It's my home, too! I deserve a say.

CHLOE
Sometimes I wish I never had you. I think of everything I could've done and then it makes me realise. I've really fucked up.

GREG
Well I didn't ask to be born.

CHLOE slaps GREG across the face, who begins to cry.

CHLOE
I want you out of my house. I don't want to see you again.

GREG (tearfully)
All I want is a Mum who cares for me. Is that too much to ask for?

GREG walks out of the room, slamming the door shut. CHLOE screams in frustation and smashes every single piece of furniture inside the room.

Cut to
INT. - GREG AND ZEKE'S DORMITORY - MORNING

GREG is laying on the bottom bunk, asleep. ZEKE is shaking GREG in an attempt to wake him up. He is fully clothed.

ZEKE
Dude, wake up.

GREG slowly opens his eyes. He sits up, facing ZEKE.

GREG
What's going on?

ZEKE
The principal's called an emergency assembly. You've got to dressed.

Cut to
INT. - SCHOOL SPORTS HALL - MORNING

MR WHITE is standing at the front of the room, watching as all of the students sit on the floor. All of the members of staff, including MR MILLER, MRS BRISTOW and MISS MOORE are standing around the side of the room. The room is filled with chatter. GREG and ZEKE walk inside the room. They are joined by DEMI.

DEMI
Greg, what's going on?

GREG
I don't know.

GREG, DEMI and ZEKE sit amongst the front row of students. The room falls silent.

MR WHITE
It is with deep regret to inform you that Kerry Wilson has tragically passed away.

Students can be heard murmuring amongst theirselves. DEMI gasps. GREG puts his arm around her shoulders to support her.

MR WHITE (continued)
Now it's too early to say what exactly happened, but was Kerry's body was found after it was washed onto the shore in the early hours of the morning. It appears she had been heavily drinking. As a result, all lessons have been cancelled. May our thoughts be with Kerry's family at this devastating time.

Cut to
EXT. - SCHOOL FIELD - MORNING

GREG is standing alone on the field. He brings out his phone and scrolls through the contacts until he reaches CHLOE'S number. He takes a deep breath, then rings the number. CHLOE answers the phone.

GREG
Hey, Mum. Yeah. I'm fine. You? Good. (pauses) Can I come home?

The call cuts out. GREG holds the phone in his hand and sighs.

Cut to
INT. - DEMI AND KERRY'S DORMITORY - MORNING

DEMI is sitting on the bottom bunk, crying into a tissue. GREG stands in the doorway of the room. He walks inside the room and sits on the bed with DEMI. He puts his arm around DEMI'S shoulders in an attempt to comfort her.

DEMI (tearfully)
I can't believe she's gone. I know she wasn't very nice, but she didn't deserve to die.

GREG
I never really had the chance to talk with her.

DEMI
Oh, she complained about everything. If she couldn't complain about something, she'd complain because she didn't have anything to complain about. (wipes the tears away from her eyes) I don't know how she did it, but she was able to charm all the guys. I wish I was able to do that.

Cut to
INT. - SCHOOL GYM - AFTERNOON

KERRY'S school photograph is hanging from the wall. Students are placing candles and messages below the photograph, in rememberance of KERRY. GREG and ZEKE are staring at the photograph of KERRY.

ZEKE
Such a tragedy. Shows that you shouldn't drink booze. I spend my time doing everyone's coursework so I don't have time to drink. (faces GREG) You heading back to the dorm?

GREG
In a bit. I wanna stay here for a while.

ZEKE turns and walks out of the room, leaving GREG standing on his own. MAX stands beside GREG. His eyes are red from where he has been crying. GREG faces MAX, remembering him.

GREG (continued)
Hey. Do you remember me?

MAX faces GREG and nods.

MAX
I was with her. Last night. It didn't happen the way they said. I can't remember much, but I think she was killed.

MAX quickly turns and walks out of the room.

Cut to
INT. - OUTSIDE MR WHITE'S OFFICE - AFTERNOON

GREG stops outside the office door. He takes a deep breath, then he knocks on the door.

MR WHITE (calling)
Come in!

GREG nervously opens the office door and steps inside the office.

Cut to
INT. - MR WHITE'S OFFICE - AFTERNOON

GREG closes the office door and walks towards MR WHITE, who is sitting at the desk. MR WHITE has a pair of glasses on, which he takes off and places on the desk. GREG sits before MR WHITE.

MR WHITE
I'm surprised to see you here, Greg.

GREG (reluctantly)
I've been thinking about what happened to Kerry.

MR WHITE
Such a tragedy, isn't it?

GREG
That's the thing, sir. Nothing makes sense.

MR WHITE
I beg your pardon?

GREG
Kerry's not the person to be out drinking alone. She's always bound to be with someone else. I'm thinking that someone else was there when she drowned.

MR WHITE
It's nice to hear your professional input, Greg, but you're dwelling too much into this. You're grieving at the moment. It's perfectly natural to be feeling like this. What you need to do is rest.

GREG
(gets to his feet) You don't care, do you? Someone's died and you're not even bothered. It's like another day to you. You're probably glad to be rid of her all the trouble she caused for you.

MR WHITE
You need to calm down.

GREG
Why should I? You'll put me in detention? Expell me?

MR WHITE (angrily)
What are you hoping to get from me? I can't emotionally bond with every student. It's impossible...but I can't say what happened with Kerry didn't work in the school's favour. I'd been looking for a reason to expel the girl for months. But it wasn't financially buyable. Her parents paid a lot of money to keep her in school.

Cut to
INT. - DEMI AND KERRY'S DORMITORY - NIGHT

A bed has been made up on the floor, which is GREG is laying on. DEMI is laying on the bottom bunk, facing GREG. They are laying in complete darkness.

DEMI
I can't believe the principal said that to you. He could probably lose his job over that.

GREG
I spoke to Max earlier and he said he was with Kerry, but he can't remember what happened. He thought someone killed her. He seemed a little paranoid.

DEMI
Foul play.

GREG
Kerry was your room-mate. Did she do anything strange while you were around?

DEMI
She sold coke to some of the other students. The occassional bag of weed. That's it.

GREG
Maybe we are dwelling too much into this. We should stop talking about it for a while.

DEMI
What do you want to talk about then?

GREG
I dunno really.

DEMI
What do you look for in a girl?

GREG
Someone who has a good sense of humour who knows how to make me laugh. A nice personality, smile, beautiful eyes. (pauses) What do you look for in a guy?

DEMI
Someone who'll be there for me. Someone I can cuddle up with on a cold night. Someone who can watch a romantic-comedy without falling asleep or complaining about it.

GREG laughs.

DEMI (continued)
Why did you come here?

GREG
Because I'd been rowing with my mum at home. She told me she didn't want me living with her anymore, so now I go here. The hardest part was leaving behind my friends, well at least I thought they were. Not one of them has bothered getting in contact with me. It makes me feel useless, that people never wanted me around to begin with.

Fade to black.

Cut to
INT. - GREG AND ZEKE'S DORMITORY - MORNING

GREG is standing at the wardrobe, getting changed into his school uniform. His rucksack is on the bottom bunk. The dormitory door opens and ZEKE walks inside the room with a towel wrapped around his waist. His hair is damp from having just got out of the shower. He closes the dormitory door.

ZEKE
Where were you last night?

GREG
I stayed with Demi.

ZEKE
How is she?

GREG
She's okay. Still a bit shocked, but she's fine.

GREG and ZEKE continue to talk as ZEKE gets dressed in his school uniform.

GREG (continued)
Do you know a guy called Max? Same year as us.

ZEKE
Surname?

GREG
I don't know it.

ZEKE
What's so special about him anyway?

GREG
When you left yesterday, he said he was with Kerry the night she died.

The school bell goes, signalling the start of the first lesson. GREG picks up his rucksack and puts it on his back. ZEKE is now fully dressed.

ZEKE
Tell me the rest later, man.

GREG opens the dormitory door and walks out of the room. ZEKE follows GREG out of the room and closes the door.

Cut to
INT. - MISS MOORE'S CLASSROOM - MORNING

GREG and ZEKE are sitting at a table at the front right-hand side of the room, with their pencil cases and exercise books in front of them. Their rucksacks are on the floor, underneath the table. MISS MOORE is walking around the room, returning the results of each student's homework assignment. MISS MOORE stops at GREG and ZEKE'S table. She places the marked worksheets in front of them. They see that they each have full marks.

MISS MOORE
One hundred percent as per usual. Keep this up and I'll have to start teaching you more advanced work.

Cut to
INT. - SCHOOL YEAR LOCKERS - MORNING

GREG stands at his locker with his rucksack on his back and his locker key in his hands. GREG opens his locker and an envelope drops out of it. GREG picks it up and sees that the letter is addressed to him. He opens it. It has a folded piece of paper inside it, which has: 'woods. After school. Max.' GREG looks around and sees that the corridor is empty.

Cut to
EXT. - WOODS - AFTERNOON

GREG, now wearing casual clothes, is walking across the woods, looking for MAX. GREG stops, unable to find MAX. He looks around, but MAX is nowhere to be seen. A twig can be heard snapping. GREG turns in the direction where the twig snapped. MAX stands behind GREG.

MAX
You came.

GREG turns to face MAX, relieved.

GREG
Hey. You left me the note?

MAX
I wanted to be sure you got it.

GREG
What's going on? Why couldn't we meet at school?

MAX
I can't go back there. Not after what happened. I need to go where he can't find me.

GREG
He?

MAX brings out his wallet, phone and iPod and hands them to GREG. MAX paces up and down, in a state of panic.

MAX
I have to get away from here. This place. It's driving me insane.

GREG
Max. Let me help you.

MAX
(laughs sarcastically) You can't help me. No one can.

MAX turns and sprints across the woods.

GREG
Max, wait!

GREG puts MAX'S phone, wallet and iPod away and runs after MAX, desperate to catch up with him.

GREG (continued)
Wait up!

Cut to
EXT. - STREET - AFTERNOON

MAX runs out of the woods. He is followed closely by GREG, who's pace is slowing. MAX runs into the road, unaware that a car is travelling at high speed towards him. GREG spots the car.

GREG (desperately)
Max, no!

MAX stops and sees the car. It is unable to stop in time and hits MAX. He rolls over the top of the car and lands on the floor. He bleeds from the head. GREG stares at MAX'S body in shock. The car stops. Before the driver has the chance to get out of the car, GREG runs away.

Cut to
EXT. - GREG AND ZEKE'S DORMITORY - AFTERNOON

ZEKE is sitting on the bottom bunk, playing a game on the XBOX 360. Explosions and gunfire can be heard on the game. The dormitory door opens and GREG hurries inside the room. He is breathing heavily and is still in shock from having witnessed the accident. GREG closes the door.

ZEKE
(faces GREG) Dude, what's up?

GREG
(recomposes himself) Nothing. I'm fine.

GREG opens the wardrobe and brings out another set of casual clothes. He closes the wardrobe.

GREG (continued)
I'm going for a shower.

Cut to
INT. - BOYS SHOWER ROOM - AFTERNOON

GREG is standing in an empty shower cubicle letting the water run down his body. He rests his head against the wall as he thinks to himself.

Cut to
INT. - GREG AND ZEKE'S DORMITORY - EVENING

GREG is laying on the bottom bunk, now fully dressed, in complete silence. ZEKE finishes playing on the XBOX 360 and switches it off. He gets to his feet, facing GREG.

ZEKE
You coming for dinner?

GREG
No.

ZEKE
(sighs) At least make a fucking effort.

GREG
(gets to his feet) What's your problem?

ZEKE
You. You're my fucking problem. I've tried being your mate, but everything I suggest, you shrug it off. I'm done.

ZEKE opens the dormitory door and walks out of the room. He slams the door shut. GREG sits on the bottom bunk. He reaches underneath the pillow and brings out MAX'S phone and wallet. He looks inside the wallet and sees a small photograph of MAX and MAX'S girlfriend, sitting on a bench and smiling into the camera.

GREG (muttering)
You too, huh?

A small folded piece of paper drops out of MAX'S wallet. It has RILEY'S mobile number written on it. GREG puts it inside his right jean pocket. He closes the wallet and puts it back underneath his pillow. GREG searches through the files on MAX'S mobile phone. He begins to watch the videos in ascending order. The video of MAX and KERRY kissing in the woods plays. GREG watches the next video...

Cut to
EXT. - OUTSIDE THE OFF-LICENCE - EVENING - FLASHBACK

MAX is standing in the street, filming a heated argument between RILEY, early twenties, and KERRY on his mobile phone. A gang of teenagers can be seen in the background.

KERRY (furiously)
Fuck off, will ya! You can't keep following me like you're a sick perve!

RILEY
I want my money, Kerry.

KERRY
I don't fucking have it!

RILEY
I want it.

RILEY looks to MAX and sees that he is been filmed on his mobile phone. RILEY walks towards him.

RILEY (continued)
Hey! Wanna turn that thing off?

Cut to

GREG is sitting on the edge of the bottom bunk with MAX'S mobile phone in his hands. He is watching the video of RILEY and KERRY'S heated discussuion. He watches the video cut out as RILEY grabs hold of the phone. GREG cancels away from the videos and holds the phone in his hands.

Cut to
INT. - MR MILLER'S CLASSROOM - EVENING

MR MILLER is sitting at his desk, marking some student assignments. There is a knock on the classroom door. The door opens and GREG walks inside the room. He closes the door as MR MILLER faces him.

MR MILLER (surprised)
Greg. Take a seat.

GREG walks across the room. He takes one of the chairs from a table and places it before MR MILLER'S desk. He sits on it.

MR MILLER
As to what do I owe this visit to?

GREG
I was kinda hoping for some advice. If you had the chance to stop something bad from happening. Like really bad. Would you?

MR MILLER
Now that depends entirely on what you're talking about.

GREG
Say someone my age was in danger. This other person knew he was in danger, but chose to do nothing. Now he could be dead because of it.

MR MILLER
A difficult choice to make. Say you chose to do something about it. All that fuss and he could be fine. He might dislike the fact you interfered in his personal life. But on the other hand, you could've potentially saved his life by acting on it. (pauses) Does this concern you personally?

GREG
(smiles) No, sir. I wanted to know for an English assignment.

MR MILLER
I hope that was of use to you.

GREG
It was. Thank you.

GREG picks up his chair and puts it back at the table. He walks towards the classroom door.

MR MILLER
Oh, Greg.

GREG turns back to face MR MILLER.

GREG
Sir?

MR MILLER
What did you think of the community service? I was thinking about making it available to the students instead of taking up an extra subject.

GREG
Yeah, I think it's a good idea. It helps us to meet new people.

MR MILLER
(smiles) Thanks for that.

GREG smiles. He opens the classroom door and walks out of the room. He closes the door.

Cut to
INT. - OUTSIDE DEMI AND KERRY'S DORMITORY - NIGHT

GREG stops outside the dormitory door and knocks on it. The dormitory door opens and DEMI stands, half-asleep. She is wearing her pyjamas.

DEMI
Not that I know of. Why?

Cut to
INT. - DEMI AND KERRY'S DORMITORY - NIGHT

GREG and DEMI are sitting on the edge of the bottom bunk, watching the video of RILEY and KERRY'S heated discussuion on MAX'S mobile phone. The video stops playing.

DEMI
How did you find this?

GREG (reluctantly)
Max gave me his phone. Right before he was he runover.

DEMI
Is he okay?

GREG
I don't know. I should've helped him, but I was scared. I didn't know what to do. (faces DEMI) Does it make me a bad person?

DEMI
No. It makes you human.

Cut to
INT. - GREG AND ZEKE'S DORMITORY - NIGHT

ZEKE is laying on the top bunk, asleep. The dormitory door opens and GREG creeps inside the room. He closes the door and stands before ZEKE. GREG gently shakes ZEKE.

GREG
Zeke.

ZEKE (muttering)
No, Mum. I've showered once this week already.

ZEKE opens his eyes. He sits up, facing GREG.

GREG
I realised I've been an arsehole. I find it hard to meet new people. Everything I do just seems to piss people off.

ZEKE
You're actually apologising to me.

GREG
Yeah.

ZEKE
Come on. Share the love.

ZEKE holds his arms open and GREG hugs him.

ZEKE (continued)
It's probably best not to mention that to anyone.

GREG
Yeah.

GREG takes his trainers off and lays on the bottom bunk. He exhales.

GREG (continued)
Do you take drugs?

ZEKE
Okay. Who put you up to this?

GREG
No one. (pauses) I'm guessing that means you take them.

ZEKE
I've dabbled.

GREG
I was thinking I might give them a shot. Do you think you could set me up with a dealer?

ZEKE
Sorry, no can do. I got mine from Kerry.

GREG
I've heard there's a dealer called Riley. I'd quite like to meet him.

ZEKE
(sighs) I'll see what I can do.

Cut to
INT. - CHLOE'S HALLWAY - MORNING - FLASHBACK

There are two suitcases at the bottom of the stairs. The front door opens and GREG walks inside the house. He closes the door and sees the suitcases on the floor.

GREG (calling)
Mum!

CHLOE emerges from the living room, smoking a cigarrette.

GREG (continued)
What's the suitcases for?

CHLOE
They're yours. I'm sending you to boarding school. I can't stand living like this anymore.

GREG
Mum.

CHLOE
No, Greg. I don't want to hear it. You're going and that's the end of it. (pauses) You better go upstairs and make sure I haven't missed anything.

CHLOE takes a puff out of the cigarette and walks back inside the kitchen. GREG moans out of despair of having to leave home.

Cut to
INT. - MR WHITE'S OFFICE - MORNING

MR WHITE
The school has been hit with yet another tragedy. I know this is a challenging time, however I urge you not to be afraid to talk to someone. We're here to help. As a result, all lessons have been cancelled for the rest of the week. Normal timetables shall resume Monday morning.

Cut to
EXT. - STREET - MORNING

GREG and DEMI are walking slowly down the street, laughing and joking with each other. GREG brings out his mobile phone and accesses the camera. He is about to take a photograph of DEMI, but she moves out of shot.

DEMI
No photos.

GREG
Aw, come on. Just the one.

DEMI
(sighs) Fine.

GREG takes a photograph of DEMI. He stops and loads up the photograph. He shows it to DEMI.

DEMI (continued)
I look terrible.

GREG
I think you look beautiful.

DEMI blushes. Silence.

DEMI
Come on. Let's get one of you.

DEMI snatches GREG'S phone from him.

DEMI (continued)
Say cheese.

GREG smiles as DEMI takes a photograph of him. DEMI hands the phone back to GREG. He takes a photograph of himself and DEMI standing together. GREG puts his phone away. GREG and DEMI continue to walk down the street, laughing and joking with each other.

Cut to
EXT. - WOODS - MORNING

DEMI is sitting on the floor, smoking a cigarette. GREG is leaning against a tree, watching DEMI as she smokes. DEMI holds the cigarette out to GREG.

DEMI
Wanna try?

GREG
No, thanks.

DEMI finishes smoking the cigarette. She flicks it away. Silence.

DEMI
I've never felt so alone before.

GREG sits beside DEMI.

DEMI (continued)
I don't normally smoke. Only when I'm nervous. Helps to calm me down.

GREG
It's fine.

There is an awkward silence between them. DEMI turns and kisses GREG on the lips. He responds. GREG eventually pulls away.

GREG (continued)
I'm ready.

They kiss again. DEMI lays on the floor and pulls down her trousers. GREG shakes nervously as he pulls down his jeans.

DEMI
It's okay. Go at your own pace.

GREG completely pulls down his jeans. He begins to make love with DEMI. She moans as GREG thrusts slowly.

GREG
Are you okay?

DEMI nods. Their breathing increases as GREG'S thrusting increases. GREG moans as he comes. He gets off DEMI and pulls up his jeans. DEMI sits up and also pulls up her trousers. GREG puts his arm around DEMI'S shoulders.

GREG (continued)
Did it hurt?

DEMI
Yeah, but in a good way.

GREG
I'm sorry.

Silence.

DEMI
Was that your first time?

Cut to
INT. - MR WHITE'S OFFICE - AFTERNOON

MR WHITE is sitting at the desk with GREG'S school report in front of him. There is a knock on the office door and it opens. ZEKE steps inside the room and closes the door.

ZEKE
You wanted to speak with me, sir?

MR WHITE
Ah, yes. Take a seat, Zeke.

ZEKE sits before MR WHITE.

MR WHITE (continued)
I was hoping you'd be able to tell me something about your roomate. Greg.

ZEKE
He's a pretty cool guy. Doesn't say much. Can't blame him for keeping himself to himself.

MR WHITE
You're aware of his reasons for being here? It must be difficult being kicked out by your own mother.

ZEKE
Is there relevance to any of this?

MR WHITE
I'm curious, Zeke. You see a side of him that teachers don't see. And you can't deny the fact that he's not all there.

ZEKE
He does make these videos. Keeps them on a blog. He also keeps a diary.

MR WHITE
This diary. What does he keep in there?

ZEKE
Beats me. Like I'm gonna go through his stuff.

MR WHITE
I'm surprised. From my understanding, you've got quite the reputation spying on people.

Cut to
INT. - GREG AND ZEKE'S DORMITORY - AFTERNOON

ZEKE is sitting at the desk, thinking back to what MR WHITE spoke to him about. He looks across to the bottom bunk. He gets to his feet and brings out GREG'S diary from underneath the pillow. ZEKE sits on the edge of the bed. He reads through GREG'S diary entries. ZEKE puts the diary back underneath the pillow and gets to his feet, just as the dormitory door opens and GREG walks inside the room. GREG closes the door.

GREG
Hey.

ZEKE
(sits at the desk) You alright?

GREG
Yeah. I'm good, thanks.

GREG sits on the edge of the bottom bunk.

ZEKE
Remember Riley? You're meeting him at the park at seven.

GREG
Any tips?

ZEKE
Don't get arrested. Nah, you should be fine.

GREG reaches underneath the pillow and brings out his diary. He sees that the corners on some of the pages have been folded over. He realises that ZEKE has been reading it.

ZEKE (continued)
Why do you wanna start taking drugs?

GREG
We all experiment, don't we?

ZEKE
True.

Cut to
INT. - GREG AND ZEKE'S DORMITORY - EVENING - VIDEO PLAYBACK

GREG is sitting at the desk with the laptop out in front of him. The webcam and microphone have been set up on the laptop. It is recording and GREG is talking into the webcam.

GREG
So, yeah. I've been at boarding school for just over two months now and it's not all bad. I can think of a few places I wouldn't want to be right now. I've made a few friends, but sometimes I get the impression they don't actually like me. If they don't, it's their own choice. I'm not going to force them into liking me.

Cut to
INT. - MR WHITE'S OFFICE - EVENING

MR WHITE is sitting at the desk, watching GREG'S most recent video diary on his laptop. The video stops playing and MR WHITE clicks back onto GREG'S blog. He reads through all of GREG'S blogposts with keen interest.

Cut to
INT. - GREG AND ZEKE'S DORMITORY - EVENING

GREG is sitting on the edge of the bottom bunk. He reaches underneath the bed and brings out a shoebox. He brings out a matchbox. He opens it. It is filled with money. GREG takes out a handful of money and puts it in his back jean pocket. He puts the matchbox back inside the shoebox and puts the shoebox underneath the bed. GREG gets to his feet and stands in front of the mirror, staring at his reflection. Satisfied that he is dressed appropriately, GREG walks towards the dormitory door.

Cut to
EXT. - PARK - EVENING

GREG is sitting on a swing, gently rocking it. He is patiently waiting for RILEY'S arrival. RILEY brings out his mobile phone and checks the time. 19:45. GREG sighs and puts the phone back away. He is unaware of RILEY walking onto the park and sitting on the swing next to him.

RILEY
Are you Greg?

GREG
(faces RILEY) Yeah.

RILEY
I'm Riley.

RILEY holds his hand out and GREG shakes it.

RILEY (continued)
It's good to meet you. Sorry I kept you waiting. Had to be sure it was you.

GREG
It's fine.

RILEY
Do you have anywhere you need to be this evening?

GREG
No.

RILEY
Fancy coming to a party?

Cut to
EXT. - RILEY'S FRONT GARDEN - EVENING

RILEY leads GREG across the front garden and towards the front door. Music can be heard playing loudly inside the house. RILEY brings out his keys.

RILEY
Enjoy your last few seconds of normality, kid.

RILEY unlocks the front door and opens it.

Cut to
INT. - RILEY'S HALLWAY - EVENING

RILEY walks inside the house. He is followed closely by GREG, who closes the front door. There are drunken teens kissing passionately inside the room. RILEY turns to face GREG.

RILEY
Let's get you a drink.

RILEY walks across the hallway, towards the kitchen. GREG walks after him. They pass the living room. GREG peers inside the room. Drunken teens can be seen dancing together. GREG carries on walking down the hallway.

Cut to

RILEY (loudly)
Hey!

DRUNK GIRL 1 turns to face GREG and RILEY. She wipes the vomit away from her mouth.

RILEY (continued)
Show some respect, will you?

DRUNK GIRL 1 walks out of the room. RILEY opens the fridge and brings out two cans of beer. He gently kicks the fridge door shut. RILEY hands a can of beer to GREG.

GREG
Cheers.

GREG opens the can of beer and takes a mouthful of it. RILEY opens his can of beer. He takes a sip of it.

RILEY
Down to business?

Cut to
INT. - RILEY'S BEDROOM - EVENING

The bedroom door opens and RILEY walks inside the room with the can of beer in his hands. He switches the light on. RILEY is followed closely by GREG, who closes the bedroom door. RILEY places the can of beer on the desk and turns to face GREG.

RILEY
Ever done drugs?

GREG
(takes a mouthful of beer) No.

RILEY
First timer, eh? I'll tell you what. This is for free, my man.

RILEY opens the second draw down in his chest of drawers. He brings out a small bag of weed from a sock. He hands the bag of weed to GREG, who looks at it.

RILEY (continued)
This is the real deal. If any dealer says their stuff's better, they're talking bollocks.

GREG
How much would it normally cost?

RILEY
Depends how much you're after.

GREG puts the bag of weed away. RILEY picks up his can of beer and takes a mouthful of it.

RILEY (continued)
I've never seen you around before. New to the area?

GREG
Fairly. I go to boarding school. (takes a mouthful of beer) My mum kicked me out.

RILEY
So much for parents who care for you. (pauses) Why'd you come to me? There's tons of dealers you could've gone to.

GREG
I was recommended by a friend. Kerry.

RILEY
(smiles) Kerry. She owes me a lot of money.

GREG
You're gonna struggle to get the money off her. She's dead.

RILEY
(takes a mouthful of beer) Shame. How'd she die?

GREG
She drowned. About a week ago now.

RILEY
It was a while since I last saw her. About a couple of weeks. She always came up short.

GREG
How'd you get the money back?

RILEY
Other services. What you'll soon realise about me, Greg, is that a debt is always paid off. No debt will never be left unpaid.

GREG
(takes a mouthful of beer) Except Kerry's.

RILEY smiles. GREG brings out two twenty pound notes and hands them to RILEY.

GREG (continued)
That might help to cover some of her costs.

RILEY
I like you.

Cut to
INT. - RILEY'S LIVING ROOM - NIGHT

GREG is standing alone with the can of beer in his hands, which he is drinking from. He watches the drunkeen teens as they dance to the music. RILEY leads COURTNEY, nineteen, to GREG.

RILEY (loudly)
Greg, I'd like you to meet Courtney.

GREG
Hey.

COURTNEY
Hi.

RILEY
I'll leave you to it.

RILEY walks away, leaving GREG and COURTNEY standing together. There is an awkward silence between them.

COURTNEY
What do you like?

GREG
In general or hobbies?

COURTNEY
Everything.

GREG
I like music. Quite a lot of things really.

COURTNEY
(leans forward) What about sex?

GREG
(takes a mouthful of beer) Sex is good.

Cut to
INT. - RILEY'S BEDROOM - NIGHT

GREG is sitting on the edge of the bed. COURTNEY is standing before GREG and begins undressing herself.

GREG
(sighs) Stop.

COURTNEY moans and sits next to GREG.

COURTNEY
Why are all the good-looking guys gay?

GREG
No! I'm not gay. It's just. (pauses) There's a girl I'm kind of seeing.

COURTNEY
I can live with that.

COURTNEY kisses GREG on the neck. GREG stands up to avoid COURTNEY from kissing him further.

GREG
I can't live with it. (sighs) I'm gonna go.

GREG turns and opens the bedroom door. He walks out of the room.

Riley.

RILEY pulls away from TEEN GIRL and faces GREG.

RILEY
What's up, my man?

GREG
I'm gonna head off now.

RILEY
Okay. I'll see you off.

DEMI
Hey.

GREG
How'd you sleep?

DEMI
Better.

GREG
I met with Kerry's dealer last night. He told me she owed him a lot of money.

DEMI
That doesn't surprise me. I don't think there was ever a time when she didn't borrow money from someone.

GREG
Straight away, he was lying. He told me he hadn't seen her for a few weeks before she died. The video on Max's phone was made on the night she died.

DEMI
Do you think he did it?

GREG
I don't know. He seems like the type of person not to be messed with, but I don't think he'd kill someone.

DEMI finishes eating the banana and leaves the skin on the table.

DEMI
Yeah, but how can you tell if he's a killer? It's impossible to tell.

ZEKE stands at the table. He places a plate of toast down.

ZEKE
Morning, everyone.

ZEKE sits at the table and begins eating the toast.

ZEKE (continued)
A bit quiet today, aren't we?

DEMI
Fuck off, perve.

DEMI gets to her feet and walks away. GREG faces ZEKE.

GREG
Perve?

ZEKE shrugs.

MR WHITE
Forgive me for cutting straight to the point, but after school two days ago. Where were you?

GREG
I was in my dorm.

MR WHITE
Well according to Zeke, he never saw you until six pm. I'd appreciate it if you didn't lie to me.

GREG
Believe what you like, sir.

MR WHITE
I have two dead students barely two days apart from each other. You see, the driver of the car that hit Max, said that Max was running away from someone. He gave a description and it matches you.

GREG
I don't have to answer you.

MR WHITE
No. But all I need to do is make one call to the police and they'll be sure to get the truth from you. (pauses) You make videos in your spare time.

GREG
What's that got to do with anything?

MR WHITE
Why do you always fight me, Greg? I'm on your side. You may think I'm picking on you, but I have your best interests at heart.

Cut to

GREG
Hi. I was ringing up about the job advert in the paper.

The call cuts out. GREG crosses out the number in the notebook.

GREG (continued)
Okay. I can live with that.

GREG dials the second number. The call is answered.

Hi, there. I was ringing up about the job advert in the paper. (pauses) Oh, the position's taken? Thank you for your time.

GREG finishes the call. He cross out the number. GREG dials the third number. The call is answered.

GREG (continued)
Hi. I was ringing up about the job advert in the paper. Yes. I'm looking at the advert now. Yes. The paper's in date. (sighs) I think I'll go now.

GREG finishes the call and sighs. He crosses out the number. His chances of finding a part time job looking less likely.

The video stops playing. GREG clicks on the second video in the list and it plays...

Cut to
INT. - MISS MOORE'S CLASSROOM - EVENING - VIDEO PLAYBACK

ZEKE is filming on his mobile phone. He moves the camera onto MISS MOORE'S face, who is on her knees before him. Her eyes are stained from where she has been crying.

ZEKE
Why don't you introduce yourself?

MISS MOORE is silent. ZEKE grabs MISS MOORE tightly by the throat, choaking her.

MISS MOORE (struggling)
My name's Rosemarie Moore.

ZEKE
(lets go of MISS MOORE) There we go. That wasn't so hard now, was it?

MISS MOORE
No.

ZEKE
Why don't you tell everyone what you're going to do to me?

MISS MOORE
I'm going to suck him off...until he comes in my face.

Cut to

RILEY
I have to admit I wasn't expecting to see you so soon. It's been what, half a day?

GREG
I was hoping for something with a little extra kick.

RILEY
I think I have something in mind.

Cut to
INT. - GREG AND ZEKE'S DORMITORY - AFTERNOON

GREG is planting small bags of cocaine inside ZEKE'S personal belongings. Satisfied that he has planted enough cocaine around the room to get ZEKE expelled, GREG opens the dormitory door and walks out of the room. He closes the door.

Cut to
INT. - OUTSIDE MR MILLER'S CLASSROOM - AFTERNOON

GREG walks down the corridor, towards MR MILLER'S classroom. The classroom door opens and MR MILLER walks out of the room with a folder in his hands. He closes the classroom door and sees GREG standing before him.

MR MILLER
Are you okay to walk and talk?

GREG and MR MILLER walk down the corridor together.

GREG
I didn't know who else to go to, sir. I think my roomate's taking drugs.

MR MILLER stops walking, facing GREG.

MR MILLER
How sure of this are you?

GREG brings out a small bag of cocaine and hands it to MR MILLER, who looks at it.

Cut to

MISS MOORE is standing at the front of the room, talking to the class. GREG is sitting at a table on his own on the front right-hand side of the room. MISS MOORE takes an occasional glance at GREG'S table and is visibly relieved to see that ZEKE is not inside the room. Her neck is bruised.

MISS MOORE
I think we should call it a day now. Good work today, guys. We're finally making progress.

MISS MOORE sits at her desk. All the students get to their feet and make their way out of the room. GREG purposely makes sure he is at the end of the queue. He stops next to MISS MOORE, who faces him.

MISS MOORE (continued)
Can I help you with anything, Greg?

GREG
I know what he's done to you.

MISS MOORE looks away from GREG out of embarrassment.

GREG (continued)
Do not be afraid to stand up to him.

MISS MOORE
I wish it were that simple.

GREG
Without no evidence, he has nothing to hold against you.

GREG walks out of the room. MISS MOORE breaks down in tears.

Cut to
INT. - GREG AND ZEKE'S DORMITORY - AFTERNOON

ZEKE is sitting at the desk, searching through all the files on GREG'S laptop, in search of his videos. The dormitory door opens and GREG walks inside the room. He is surprised to see ZEKE sitting at the desk. GREG closes the dormitory door.

GREG
Why weren't you in maths?

ZEKE
Couldn't be bothered.

GREG opens his wardrobe and gets changed into a set of casual clothes. ZEKE watches GREG as he hangs his school uniform inside the wardrobe.

ZEKE (continued)
Have you been deleting stuff from the laptop?

GREG
(faces ZEKE) Yeah. Had to clear stuff off the hardrive. It was almost full.

ZEKE
(looks at the computer) I had a few pieces of coursework saved on here.

GREG
I'm really sorry.

ZEKE
It's cool. I'll do it again.

Silence.

GREG
I did find a few interesting videos earlier. I was in a few of them. What I find funny is that I don't remember allowing you to film me. I recognised a few others as well. Miss Moore. Bet you had fun with her.

ZEKE smiles awkwardly. He closes the laptop lid and gets to his feet, facing GREG.

ZEKE
What did you think of them?

GREG
Really arousing. I was rock solid through all of them.

ZEKE
My masterpieces.

GREG punches ZEKE in the face, cutting his lip. ZEKE wipes the blood away from his mouth.

ZEKE (continued)
Don’t be like everyone else, Greg. Don’t make an enemy of me.

GREG
Why? Why do you do it?

ZEKE
For the simple reason that I like to be in control.

GREG
By hurting them? You’re one sick fuck.

ZEKE grabs hold of EVAN by the throat, pushing him against the wall. GREG chokes.

ZEKE
My adrenaline’s racing. I can’t let go. I’m enjoying this too much.

ZEKE is distracted by GREG'S phone ringing. GREG grabs hold of the lamp and smashes it round ZEKE'S head. ZEKE falls to the floor, unconscious. GREG chokes. The phone stops ringing. GREG manages to recompose himself, then he puts his laptop inside the rucksack. He also brings out the shoebox from underneath the bottom bunk. GREG takes out the matchbox, removing all of the money. He puts the money in his back jean pocket. GREG closes his rucksack and puts it on his back. GREG turns and kicks ZEKE in the head. GREG turns and opens the dormitory door, walking out of the room. Demi?

RILEY
It's me. Riley. I figured we should meet up. You free?

Cut to
EXT. - ALLEYWAY - EVENING

RILEY is standing with his back against the wall, patiently awaiting GREG'S arrival. RILEY is smoking a cigarette. GREG turns into the alley with his rucksack on his back. RILEY flicks the cigarette away as GREG walks to him.

RILEY
Did you come alone?

GREG
Yeah.

RILEY paces up and down the alley.

RILEY
I've had a troubled life, Greg. Been through through a lot. Seen bad stuff happen to good people. But the one thing I can't stand is when I'm lied to. (faces GREG) You lied to me.

GREG is silent.

RILEY (continued)
Haven't got much to say now, have you? (pauses) Zeke...

GREG
(interrupts RILEY) Do you have any idea what he's done?

RILEY punches GREG in the stomach. GREG groans and drops to his knees.

RILEY
Show respect to your elders, Greg. Didn't your parents teach you any manners? (crouches to GREG'S level) Why did you bother coming to me in the first place?

GREG
I saw a video of you with Kerry the night she died.

RILEY
And you think I killed her? (laughs) You need to get your facts right, mate.

RILEY helps GREG back to his feet. GREG holds onto the wall for support.

GREG
How did she die?

RILEY
Not a clue. I went back home after I saw her. Didn't go out for the next few days.

GREG
I'm sorry for wasting your time.

GREG turns and walks towards the end of the alley.

RILEY (loudly)
Oi! Where the fuck do you think you're going?

GREG turns back to face RILEY.

GREG
I'm done here.

RILEY
No. We're far from done. (walks towards GREG) You thought I was just going to let you go and be done with it?

RILEY stands before GREG and punches him in the face. GREG does not defend himself. RILEY hits GREG again.

RILEY (continued)
Defend yourself.

RILEY pushes GREG into the wall. RILEY brings out a knife and rests it against the side of GREG'S throat.

RILEY (whispering)
Scared, huh?

GREG
No.

RILEY gently runs the blade across GREG'S throat, being careful not to mark his skin.

GREG (continued)
What're you waiting for? Do it.

RILEY presses the knife against GREG'S throat, cutting it slightly. RILEY lets go of GREG, putting the knife away.

RILEY
I don't ever want to see or hear from you again. You won't get away so lightly next time.

RILEY walks casually out of the alley. GREG breathes a sigh of relief. Realising the danger he has put himself into, GREG sits on the floor and breaks down in tears.

Cut to

The dormitory door opens and DEMI walks inside the room. She switches the light on and closes the dormitory door. DEMI sits at the desk and looks at her phone. ZEKE
Where's Greg?

Cut to

His eyes are stained from where he has been crying. GREG smiles from the memories that the photographs bring back to him. GREG'S phone rings. GREG brings out his phone and sees that SUMMER is ringing him. GREG answers the phone.

GREG
Hey.

SUMMER
Hey. You left a message. What's up?

GREG
I just wanted to hear your voice again. How are you?

SUMMER
Have you been crying?

GREG is silent.

SUMMER (concerned)
Greg, are you okay?

Unable to control his emotions, GREG cries.

GREG (tearfully)
I've been so stupid.

SUMMER
Don't be upset. Tell me what's happened.

GREG
I don't know if I can take it anymore. I've ruined everything. My mum can't bare to look at me. I hurt you. I just. I just can't carry on. (pauses) If I don't ever see you again, can you tell Mum how much I love her?

SUMMER
Don't talk like that. Of course you're going to see me again. You'll be home soon. Don't give up.

GREG
Goodbye, Summer.

GREG finishes the call. He wipes the tears away from his eyes and gets to his feet. He walks to the sea. GREG stops just out of reach of the waves. GREG looks out to sea and contemplates his future. He closes his eyes. DEMI runs onto the sand, terrified.

DEMI
(screams) Greg!

GREG opens his eyes. He turns around and sees DEMI standing on the beach. She runs to GREG and he hugs her.

GREG
Demi. What are you doing here?

DEMI
Help me.

GREG
Help you from what? Demi, talk to me.

ZEKE walks onto the beach with a knife in his hands. GREG sees ZEKE standing on the beach. He walks towards ZEKE. DEMI follows closely behind GREG.

GREG (angrily)
What the fuck are you doing here?

DEMI
He killed her.

ZEKE
Surprised?

GREG
(stutters) I...I don't understand.

ZEKE
We were on the beach. Kerry, Max and myself...

Cut to

ZEKE (voiceover)
It was late and they'd had a lot to drink.

MAX and KERRY kiss passionately. ZEKE sits, watching them.

ZEKE
When's my turn?

MAX smiles, thinking ZEKE was joking.

ZEKE (continued)
I'm being serious.

KERRY faces ZEKE and smirks.

KERRY
Get lost, like. I ain't snogging you.

ZEKE forces himself onto KERRY, kissing her on the lips. She pushes him off her.

KERRY (continued)
Get lost, you pervert!

KERRY gets to her feet.

ZEKE
Aw, come on. Don't go.

MAX also gets to his feet, but falls back down. KERRY pulls MAX to his feet. They try to walk away, but ZEKE gets to his feet, bringing out a knife.

MAX
Whoa. Take it easy, Zeke.

ZEKE
(faces KERRY) Why don't you go for a swim?

KERRY
I can't swim.

ZEKE
That's not going to work with me. (pauses) Well?

ZEKE (loudly)
Further! Go on!

KERRY (desperately)
Help! Help me! I can't fucking swim! Help me!

ZEKE laughs excitedly.

MAX
Shouldn't we help her?

ZEKE
(faces MAX) Don't be a retard.

KERRY screams as she fights to stay above the water. She goes under water. ZEKE and MAX watch as they expect to see KERRY rise above the water. They soon realise that KERRY was not lying about being able to swim and that she has potentially drowned.

ZEKE (excitedly)
Holy shit, dude. That was fucking awesome!

MAX
She's dead.

ZEKE
(sighs) Don't actually say you had feelings for that whore.

MAX
We've got to get help.

ZEKE grabs hold of MAX and holds the knife against his throat.

ZEKE
Keep your mouth shut about this. We weren't here. (lets go of MAX) I'll be keeping my eye on you.

Cut to
EXT. - BEACH - EVENING

GREG is standing with DEMI. ZEKE is standing before them with the knife in his hands. ZEKE finishes explaining to GREG and DEMI how KERRY drowned.

ZEKE
It was tragic what happened to Kerry. Seriously.

GREG
What did Riley have to do with this?

ZEKE
Nothing. I actually found it quite amusing watching you get close to him. You really hurt his feelings decieving him the way you did. (pauses) Now that you know this, I can't let you go. Who wants to go first?

GREG charges into ZEKE, tackling him to the floor. The knife drops into the sand. GREG repeatedly punches ZEKE in the face. ZEKE pushes GREG off him. DEMI sees the knife in the sand. She runs to get the knife, but ZEKE grabs hold of her leg and she falls to the floor. ZEKE flicks sand into DEMI'S eyes, momentarily blinding her. ZEKE gets to his feet. GREG also gets to his feet. ZEKE picks up the knife. He turns to GREG, who punches him in the face. DEMI grabs hold of ZEKE'S legs, pulling him down to his knees. ZEKE stabs GREG in the right leg. GREG screams and falls to the floor. ZEKE punches DEMI in the face.

ZEKE (continued)
Bitch.

They are unaware of RILEY walking onto the beach with a baseball bat in his hands. ZEKE gets back to his feet. He yanks the knife out of GREG'S leg, who screams.

ZEKE (continued)
It's a shame. Just when we were starting to get along.

GREG
Wait.

ZEKE
(sighs) Oh, what now?

GREG brings out his phone. He had been recording their conversation. GREG plays it.

GREG
My masterpiece.

RILEY stands behind ZEKE. He raises the baseball bat into the air and hits ZEKE round the back of the head with it. ZEKE falls to the floor. RILEY repeatedly hits ZEKE in the head with the baseball bat. RILEY stops and takes off his jacket. He wraps it around GREG'S stab wound. He offers his hand out to GREG.

RILEY
Need a hand?

GREG takes hold of RILEY'S hand. RILEY helps GREG to his feet. RILEY puts his arm around GREG'S shoulders to help support him.

GREG
What made you come back?

RILEY
Couldn't turn down a fight.

DEMI slowly gets to her feet. She wipes the sand from her eyes. RILEY faces DEMI.

RILEY (continued)
Hey. I'm Riley. You are?

DEMI
Unavailable.

DEMI kisses GREG on the lips, who responds.

GREG
My laptop.

DEMI walks to GREG'S laptop and picks it up. She sees the photograph of herself and GREG on the laptop screen. DEMI smiles and closes the laptop lid. She puts the laptop inside GREG'S rucksack and closes it. She puts the rucksack on her back.

ZEKE is standing by the edge of the garden, staring at the front of the house. He walks across the garden and stops at the front door. ZEKE knocks on it. He brings out a knife and keeps it close to his side. The front door opens and CHLOE stands in the doorway of the house.
